This page demonstrates how ToolDocs handles document access on a real WordPress site. Each section below showcases a different feature — shortcode links, category modals, public downloads, gated registration, and whitelist access.
Embed a download link for any document anywhere on your site using the [tooldocs_file] shortcode. It renders as a simple file icon and linked text.
Use the [tooldocs_category] shortcode to create a link that opens a modal listing all documents in a category or lists the documents directory on the page when using the attribute modal=false.
When enabled, the bypass option adds an ungated permalink to the file icon while keeping the gated permalink on the text. This gives internal teams and sales reps a way to share direct downloads that skip the registration process. The bypass functionality can be turned on or off by default in the admin settings.
These files are freely available — no registration required. Clicking a public link opens the file directly in your browser (for supported types like PDF), or prompts you to download it to your computer.
These files require a free registration to download. Clicking a gated link opens a login modal — from there, click the "Register" link to reach the registration form. After registering, you're redirected back to the page and prompted to download the file.
These files require approved access. Clicking a whitelist link lets you submit an access request. The site admin receives an email notification with approve/deny links to review the request.
